Smart Docs is where patient communications are securely managed in The Complete Exam®. This capability is required if any practice management software is to be used to create electronic dental records to operate a paperless dental office. Almost anything your computer can create, import or scan may be stored here with complete legal reliability and integrity. Other systems do not have the extensive flexibility or the legal integrity of our Smart Docs!
Once stored, an item may not be altered in anyway, although you may create a copy of an item, a medical history form, for example, edit and update it and then save the result as a new "document" with a new date and time stamp. You can store almost anything here: simple letters, prescriptions, waivers, consents, medical histories, including scans of such documents. You can also store multimedia case presentations, PowerPoint shows for example, and even recorded verbal statements made by patients through a simple $3.00 microphone and the sound recorder software built right into every Windows computer.
Extensive and advanced capabilities include:
- Legally secure digital signatures on documents using a Topaz signature pad
- Verbal sound recordings (dictation) with no additional software required
- Prescriptions with automatic annotation in clinical notes of their issuance
- Up to 18 user definable buttons for commonly used documents, plus
- Unlimited dropdown listing of frequently used standard documents, scans or recordings
- Automatic merging of patient information into Smart Docs at time of creation
- Preview area shows a reduced size image of a selected document
- Designate items for automatic purge after aging to your specifications, variable per item
- Sortable item listing can show all consents together, for example
